        The comment "Swabs are not acceptable for this specimen type for mycology culture testing.” will be entered as the rejection comment.

        Bactec Myco-F/lytic Bottle (Sent out).                                  


Tissue/Biopsy


Collected in sterile specimen container.


Saline can be added to prevent drying.

Body Fluid (Pleural/Peritoneal/Synovial)

Minimum Volume
Fluids, Bronchial, Urine, wound/abscess specimens – 0.5 mL’s
Tissue/Bone/Biopsy - no larger than a pea size peice
Blood: 1-5mL (optimum is 3-5mL) in bottle.
