Clinical Significance
Amphetamines are CNS stimulants available by prescription and illicitly. Presence in urine indicates prior exposure. Methamphetamine metabolizes to amphetamine and can be detected in urine 3 hours after exposure. Half-life is 10-20 hours. Usually detectable 24-48 hours after use.
