Hologic Aptima Multitest swab Specimen Collection Kit

Anterior nares specimen


Using a flocked or spun polyester swab, insert the swab at least 1 cm (0.5 inch) inside the nostril (naris) and firmly sample the nasal membrane by rotating the swab and leaving in place for 10 to 15 seconds. Sample both nostrils with same swab.


Other Acceptable Specimens
<= 3ml of Saline, UTM and VTM


Instructions

Anterior nares specimen

Transport Container
Multitest swab specimens must be transported to the lab in the provided swab specimen transport medium and tube.

Aptima samples (orange tube): Room Temperature



All other media: Refrigerated




Specimen Stability

Aptima samples are good for 96 hours room temp and 30 days if refrigerated.



All other media:  4 days refrigerated
