Instructions
Follow the collection procedure in the AmniSure kit.  The swab must be rotated in the vial for 1 minute and discarded.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Sample that was collected following a digital exam or from patients ctively bleeding or presenting with placenta previa.
Sample that arrives in the laboratory with the swab in the collection vial.

Clinical Significance
Amnisure is a rapid qualitative test for the detection of amniotic fluid in vaginal secretions of pregnant patients.  The timely and accurate diagnosis of Rupture of Membranes (ROM) is crucial since it may be associated with serious neonatal and maternal consequences.
