Specimen Type: Vagina

Container/Tube: Affirm VPIII Ambient Transport System

Specimen Volume: Swab

Collection Instructions:

1. Do not use lubricant on speculum.

2. Specimen should be obtained from posterior fornix of vagina.

3. Gently rotate swab clockwise for 10 to 30 seconds to ensure adequate sampling.

4. Withdraw swab carefully. Swab lateral vaginal wall while removing.

5. Remove cap from swab specimen transport tube, and immediately place collection swab into transport tube.

6. Carefully break swab shaft at scoreline. Use care to avoid splashing of contents.

7. Recap transport tube tightly.
8. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
