Clinical Significance
Uric acid levels are increased in renal failure, gout, leukemia, lymphoma, hemolytic anemia, polycythemia, psoriasis, cytotoxic drug treatment, and malnutrition. Decreased levels are found in Wilsons disease, chronic debilitating disease, hemochromatosis, severe alcoholism, large doses of salicylate, and x-ray contrast media.
