Container/Tube: Wampole Isolator 10-mL tube(s)
Specimen Volume: 7 mL to 10 mL of blood
Collection Instructions1. Disinfect rubber diaphragm of bottle.  2. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last) and date and actual time of collection.
Note: Specimen source is required. 




Instructions
Patient Preparation
1. Apply tourniquet to patient’s arm.
2. Palpate area to locate vein.
3. Remove tourniquet.
4. Cleanse venipuncture site first with 70% alcohol in a circular motion, beginning at center and working out to periphery to a diameter of 3 to 4 inches. Allow alcohol to air dry for 15 to 30 seconds.
5. Secondly, cleanse venipuncture site with tincture of iodine in a circular motion as with alcohol above. Allow to air dry for at least 1 minute. Do not fan or blow area to hasten drying.
6. Do not palpate vein after sterilizing area.
