Collection Instructions:
  
1. Submit a 2 cm x 1 cm x 0.5 cm piece of fresh skeletal muscle in a saline-moistened gauze pad.
   2. It is important that container be sealed properly so that no water enters container.
   3. Label container with patient’s name (first and last) and date and actual time of collection.
   4. Notify histology technician or pathologist that specimen has been brought to Surgical Pathology Laboratory.

An interpretive report will be provided.


Clinical Significance
 Useful for evaluating muscular disease in terms of primary myopathy, neurogenic atrophy, vasculitis, enzyme deficiency, parasitic infestation, etc. and to diagnose trichinosis, myositis, polymyositis, and periodic paralysis.
