Preferred Specimen
Container/Tube: Sterile container(s)
Specimen Volume: 2.5 mL of fresh, uncontaminated amniotic fluid
Collection Instructions: Obtain by transabdominal amniocentesis. However, amniotic fluid obtained from a vaginal pool can be used. Grossly contaminated specimen should be centrifuged for 3 minutes at 1,500 rpm.
Protect specimen from light.
