MessageSpecimen must arrive in laboratory by noon on Friday and on the day before a holiday. Collect specimen Monday through Friday only.

Preferred Specimen
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Blood
Container/Tube: Lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s)
Specimen Volume: 3 mL of EDTA whole blood
Collection Instructions: Do not centrifuge. Note: 1. Indicate blood. 2. Label specimen appropriately (blood).
Bone Marrow
Container/Tube: Dark green-top (sodium heparin) tube or lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Specimen Volume: Full tube (minimum volume: 2 mL) of bone marrow
Note: 1. Indicate bone marrow on request form. 2. Label specimen appropriately (bone marrow).
Tissue
Container/Tube: Sterile container in RPMI.
Specimen Volume: Tissue
Collection Instructions: Do not fix specimen.
Note: 1. Lymph nodes and other tissue preparations must yield a cell count of >500/µL. Viability of cells must be >50%. 2. Indicate tissue on request form. 3. Label specimen appropriately (tissue).
