Container/Tube: Light blue-top (citrate) tube-
Specimen Volume: Full tube
Collection Instructions: Blood to anticoagulant ratio is critical.
Note: 1. Results may be affected by hematocrit >55%.
2. Tube should remain stoppered. 




Minimum Volume
Full tube


Transport Temperature
Refrigerate <=30 minutes 


Specimen Stability
Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of draw.  


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Grossly hemolyzed, clotted blood, or an insufficient specimen is not acceptable.

Partial Thromboplastin Time-Based Clotting Method/ Standard Curve from Reference Plasma

Setup Schedule
Monday through Sunday


Reference Range
40-150% activity compared to normal plasma pool


Clinical Significance
Useful for evaluating and monitoring hemophilia B and factor IX deficiency.
