Prerequisites for Testing Ethylene Glycol:
• Osmolality Gap. Serum Osmolality with a calculated osmolality and a calculated osmolality gap
• Basic Metabolic Panel or Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
• Arterial Blood Gases
• Urinalysis

Criteria for Sending STAT Ethylene Glycol:
• History of recent ethylene glycol ingestion is definite
• History or suspicion of ethylene glycol intoxication and at least 2 of the following are present:
Arterial pH level <7.3
Serum bicarbonate level <20 mEq/L
Osmolality gap >10 mOsm/L
Urinary oxalate crystals are present
