Prerequisites for Testing Ethylene Glycol:
Osmolality Gap. Serum Osmolality with a calculated osmolality and a calculated osmolality gap
Basic Metabolic Panel or Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Arterial Blood Gases
Urinalysis


Criteria for Sending STAT Ethylene Glycol:
History of recent ethylene glycol ingestion is definite
History or suspicion of ethylene glycol intoxication and at least 2 of the following are present:
     Arterial pH level <7.3
    
Serum bicarbonate level <20 mEq/L
    
Osmolality gap >10 mOsm/L
    
Urinary oxalate crystals are present
