Clinical Significance
Abnormal magnesium levels are often seen in conditions or diseases that cause excessive or impaired excretion of magnesium by the kidneys or that cause impaired absorption in the intestines. May also be used with calcium and phosporus testing to monitor calcium supplimentation.
