Instructions
The laboratory recommends collecting 3 sputum specimens for acid-fast smears and culture in patients with clinical and chest x-ray findings compatible with tuberculosis. Collect the 3 samples over an 8-24 hour period of time. Include at least one first morning specimen.
Collection methods for all sources are identical to criteria used for routine bacterial culture. Sent to NHPHL
