Preferred Specimen
1- 2 ml Serum and 1 ml CSF, All CSF specimens must be sent with serum specimens, serum only specimens will be accepted.


Instructions
CSF: Collect within the first 14 days following disease onset and refrigerate until transport. Serum: Paired acute-phase (collect as early as possible after onset of illness) and convalescent phase ( collect >/= 8 days after clinical onset) and refrigerate. Acute serum and CSF should be sent as soon as possible to the PHL for testing
