Preferred Specimen
4 mL EDTA whole blood, only if ABO/Rh is not on file at transfusing facility


Other Acceptable Specimens
4 mL whole blood in plain red top. Do not aliquot serum from cells unless specimen can not reach lab same day as collection.


Instructions
For transfusion on Outpatients, contact hopital's outpatient services area. Also a platelet count must be performed at the transfusing facility prior to adminsitration.
