Preferred Specimen
Neonates and Children 1 to 10 years: 1-3 mL of blood in a BACTEC Peds Plus®/F bottle (pink cap and label)
Minimum Volume
BACTEC® Plus Aerobic/F and Anaerobic/F bottles: 3 mL blood/bottle. BACTEC® Peds Plus® /F bottles: 0.5 mL blood/bottle is acceptable, but 1 mL is preferred.

Instructions
Do not submit specimens in SPS, heparin, EDTA, and sodium citrate tubes. Do not refrigerate.
