Preferred Specimen

Body fluid specimen, including but not limited to: Cerebrospinal Fluid, pleural fluid, pericardial fluid, peritoneal fluid, or synovial fluid.



Minimum Volume
1 mL


Instructions

Collect body fluid in a body fluid collection bag or other sterile container and transport to lab. Refrigerate if transport will be delayed.

This test is for calcium measurement on body fluids.  For measurement of calcium on serum or plasma, order CALCM.  For measurement of Calcium on Urine, order URCA.

Limitations
Highly viscous or turbid samples may interfere with testing.
