Clinical Significance

The Fungal Immunodiffusion System is an in vitro determination of precipitating antibodies to four systemic fungal pathogens: Histoplasma capsulatum (pulmonary disease associated with bird droppings), Blastomyces dermatitidis(pulmonary disease-cough, hemoptysis), Coccidioides immitis (San Joaquin Fever, valley fever) and Aspergillus fumigatus (pneumonitis or allergic bronchopulmonary disease).
