Acceptable: 10g Boric acid-preserved urne, collected for 24-hours

Submission Container/Tube: Sterile container

Specimen Volume: 1.5 mL

Collection Instructions: 

  1. Collect urine for 24 hours.
  2. If using, add Boric Acid at the beginning of collection.
  3. Refrigerate during and after collection.
  4. Record 24-hour volume on requisition and urine vial.

Clinical Significance
Aldosterone is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Patients with primary hyperaldosteronism exhibit hypokalemia, hypertension, and low direct renin concentrations.
