Preferred Specimen

Specimen Type: Serum

Collection Container/Type: Red top

Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions: 

  1. Collect 4 mL whole blood in a red-top tube (no gel).
  2. Clot at 37°C.
  3. Centrifuge at room temperature and immediately separate serum.

Additional Information: If testing is for recent Mycoplasma pneumoniae exposure, Test Code 21130 - M. pneumoniae IgM Antibodies, EIA, is recommended.



Minimum Volume

0.5 mL



Instructions
Collect 4 mL whole blood in a red-top tube (no gel). Clot at 37°C. Centrifuge at room temperature and immediately separate serum.

Note: If testing is for recent Mycoplasma pneumoniae exposure, Test Code 21130 -Mycoplasma pneumoniae Antibody (IgM), is recommended.
