Instructions
Collection Instructions
  1. Collect full tube.  Fill volume is critical for proper anticoagualnt ratio.
  2. If collecting samples in microtainer tubes, indicate if sample is venous or capillary (finger stick or heel stick).
Additional Information:
  1. Platelet clumping: submit a Light Blue (sodium citrate) tube along with the lavender tube.  Rubber band tubes together and indicate on request that patient is a platelet clumper.
  2. Pathology Review: If a pathology review is required, order CBCM / Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Manual Differential and clearly indicate on request that Pathologist review is required.


Specimen Stability

Room temperature: 24 hours
Refrigerated: 48 hours
Frozen: Unacceptable




Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Clotted, fibrin strands, platelet clumps, grossly hemolyzed, samples drawn above an IV site.
