Instructions
- Patient should pass stool into a clean, dry container mounted on the toilet for this purpose.
- Sample may also be collected from a diaper.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Rejection will occur for the following reasons: improperly labeled specimen, insufficient volume, specimen not submitted in appropriate transport container, leaking specimens.

Limitations
Negative results can occur in samples containing low levels of antigen. Specimens containing high levels of blood may result as invalid.

Negative for Rotavirus antigen
Clinical Significance
Rotavirus particles decline after day 8 or 9, with peak particles occurring on day 3-5. Detection of a pathogen suggests an infectious cause of diarrhea. Diarrhea may be caused by a number of pathogens and other factors.
