Gross hemolysis decreases results by up to 12%. Gross icterus increases results up to 14%. Lipids have <10% interference.

Clinical Significance
Amylase is produced in the pancreas and parotid glands. Measurement of amylase activity is of value in diagnosing pancreatitis and other pancreatic disorders which result in elevated serum and urine amylase.
