Minimum Volume

Biopsy sample minimum 3-4mm in size. Multiple specimen types
including: Deep Wound, Tissue, Biopsy, Bone, FNA, Lymph Node, Organ Tissue, Bone Marrow

NOTE: This culture is for deep surgical
specimens only. Superficially collected specimens should be ordered
as Wounds



Instructions

Collect following surgical procedures and submit in a capped
syringe (needle removed) or a sterile transport container.

If specimen is at risk for drying out during transport, ~1ml of
sterile, non-bacteriostatic 0.85% NaCl (saline) should be added to
the sterile transport container

NOTE: Collection of specimens on swabs is
not recommended due to poor absorption of sample material,
decreased recovery of pathogens, and greater likelihood of
superficial culture. If swabs are utilized ESwab with Liquid Amies
Mediums are recommended.



Report Available

Final negative or normal flora reports are issued at 4-7 days.
Final positive reports will depend on the extent of workup
necessary.
