Preferred Specimen

•Sterile Container • ESwab with Liquid Amies Medium
•Anaerobic transport tube •Capped syringe



Minimum Volume

Multiple specimen types including: Corneal scraping, Cornea,
Rim, Vitreous fluid, Aspirate, Culture swab, Biopsy

For low quantity specimens (ex. corneal scrapings and Vitreous
fluid) please inoculate culture media at the time of the procedure.
Contact the laboratory to request media and slides.



Instructions

Corneal scraping: Due to the small volume of material, scraping
should be inoculated onto media at the time of collection. The
physician should contact the laboratory to obtain appropriate
slides and culture media (for fungal and bacterial culture as
necessary). Agar media should be inoculated by lightly touching
both sides of the spatula in a row of separate C streak marks
